Providing Support Locally
Chapel Hill, Durham
Life experiences change us and can make us more resilient. I am a licensed clinical social worker with over a decade of professional experience helping people access the power of their resilience and become better versions of themselves. My goal is to work with clients to get to the heart of the matter that brings them into therapy. As a clinician, I draw from various evidence-based treatment modalities including Cognitive Behavior Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), strengths-based, solutions focused, mindfulness, psychodynamic, motivational enhancement therapy, and acceptance commitment therapy tailored to the client. My practice is also heavily informed by the work of Brene’ Brown, PhD, Nancy McWilliams, PhD, Tara Brach, PhD, and Bessel Van Der Kolk, MD. Working in various capacities with not-for-profit treatment settings with diverse populations has allowed me to develop and refine my clinical diagnostic and treatment skills. I am a compassionate and straight- forward therapist who is active with the client(s) in the therapeutic process. I moved to North Carolina permanently in 2014. I was raised in New York State. I received my Bachelor’s degree in Psychology at North Carolina Wesleyan College and received my Master of Social Work (MSW) degree at the University at Albany. My practice has been featured in the well-respected Psychology Today periodical, and I maintain current best practice information through professional affiliations such as National Association of Social Workers and North Carolina Society for Clinical Social Work. My own life experiences and treatment in outpatient therapy to work to heal my past have inspired my career. It is my hope to be able to work with you to help you make the positive shifts you are seeking.
