Melissa E. Ficarra, LCSW

Life experiences change us and can make us more resilient.  I’m a licensed clinical social worker with over a decade of professional experience helping people access their resilience and become better versions of themselves.  My goal is to work with clients to get to the heart of the matter that brings them into the office and guide them in shifting their perceptions to make lasting positive changes.  I draw from various evidence-based treatment modalities including CBT, solution focused, DBT, strengths-based, mindfulness, psychodynamic, motivational enhancement therapy and acceptance commitment therapy tailored to the client’s specific needs.   My practice is also heavily informed by Brene Brown, PhD, Nancy McWilliams, PhD, Tara Brach, PhD and Bessel Van Der Kolk, MD.  Working in various capacities in nonprofit treatment settings with diverse populations has allowed me to develop and refine my clinical diagnostic and treatment skills.  I am a compassionate straight forward therapist who is active with the client(s) in the therapeutic process.   I moved to North Carolina permanently in 2014.  I was raised in New York State.  I received my bachelor’s degree in Psychology at North Carolina Wesleyan College and received my MSW at SUNY Albany. My own life experiences and treatment in outpatient therapy to work to heal my past, inspired my career and it is my goal to help you get to the best version of yourself.
